On Friday, November 6, 2009, Fog City News will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary. On the one hand, Fog City News is a big too fancy and a bit too small to be a truly great newsstand, like Dina news or Universal New in NYC or the Harvard Square Newsstand in Cambridge. When I was a very young man laboring in the caverns of Manhattan, making and spinnig news, I would run off to Universal News to get the out-of-town newspapers that had printed my stories.
But we've come here today to commemorate Fog City News. If you like newsstands. And if you like chocolate. And if you're in San Francisco. Then you need to visit Fog City News. Fog City News is where I was able to acquire the issue of French Vogue edited by Sofia Copolla. It is a long narrow room and you can't reach the magazines on the top rack because it is so high. And as if that wasn't enough, it does have the most exquisite chocolate one can buy.
Go. See. Buy. Repeat.
